More than 200 members of the Vintage Oaks Community joined ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to surprise veteran Kyle Malin at his new homesite on Monday, January 16, 2012. Kyle, his wife Alicia and two sons, Caleb and Cy, were chosen to receive a new homesite by Helping a Hero, a group that assists injured soldiers once they’ve come back from combat.
The Malin family received 1 .03 acre homesite where Jimmy Jacobs Home Builders will build their new home. The family is expected to move in and join the Vintage Oaks community by Summer 2012.
The Malin’s surprise was filmed as a part of a special series finale for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition that will air in December 2012.

As Thanksgiving approaches, the team at Vintage Oaks wants to give thanks for all the residents in our community! We are honored that you chose to build your dream home here! As we take a break this week to count our blessings, we wanted to share a few things we are thankful for here at Vintage Oaks:
1. Texas Hill Country – We’re lucky to live in one of the most beautiful parts of Texas!
2. J.R. Martinez –We’ve enjoying watching J.R. on Dancing with the Stars this season and appreciate all he’s done for Operation Finally Home.
3. The Amenities Center Pool and Lazy River – Thank you for providing relief during this summer’s scorching hot temperatures!
4. Schlitterbahn – We love that we’re just minutes away from this popular Texas waterpark – it’s one of our favorite New Braunfels destinations!
5. Dry Comal Creek Vineyard – We’re thankful to have a wonderful wine selection right in our backyard and love to retreat here on the weekends!

We had a wonderful time yesterday with the Read family! The family enjoyed reading all the messages of welcome and thank you that the community had written on their home’s framing. We want to thank everyone who participated in such a heartwarming event.
Southstar Communities and Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes have donated land and a new home to Colton and Jessica Read through Operation FINALLY HOME, an organization that provides homes to wounded and disabled serviceman, veterans and widows of fallen soldiers. Senior Airman Colton Read lost both of his legs during a routine gall bladder surgery that was required before his deployment to Iraq.

Share welcome and thank you messages on Senior Airman Colton and Jessica Read’s new home framing. Vintage Oaks and Jimmy Jacobs Custom Homes are honoring the Read’s with the land and new home through a program called Operation FINALLY HOME.
When: Saturday, February 12, 2011 or Sunday, February 13, 2011
Anytime between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.
The Reads are scheduled to visit the home on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Where: Vintage Oaks at the Vineyard, 1110 Vintage Way, New Braunfels, TX 78132
Stop by the Vintage Oaks Discovery Center at the front entrance and a Vintage Oaks staff member will be happy to escort you to the Read’s new homesite or you may follow the signage directly to it. Guests are free to come and go.
Directions: From Hwy 46: Turn onto Vintage Way into the Vintage Oaks community. Turn right on Appellation and follow the signs to the homesite.
