Looking for fun things to do during Spring Break? With so many activities in the Hill Country this time of year, it’s too bad Spring Break is only one week long.

Schlitterbahn’s Blastenhoff section at its New Braunfels park, home to the famous Master Blaster, is open March 12–20 for Spring Break, and if you’re planning on visiting, keep in mind that the park will fill up fast.

Tip: Check out a park map first and make a plan of action. You can expect it to be crowded, so knowing which rides your family most want to enjoy and getting there first may be key to making sure you get to enjoy them at all, or at least without waiting in a huge line. You can also stay overnight at the park and get unlimited access to rides and attraction with special Spring Break packages. Get more tips for touring Schlitterbahn like a pro here.

Celebrate an early Easter at New Braunfels’ Cypress Bend Park with the Flashlight Egg Hunt. In addition to thousands of eggs filled with treats, prizes will be given to children who find golden eggs during the hunts. There will be three age groups ranging from 2 to 11 years old, plus carnival games and pictures with the Easter Bunny.

Tip: Bring your own flashlight and bag or basket to make sure you’re ready to go!

Natural Bridge Caverns is a favorite place for Hill Country family activities. Do the zip line challenge, pan for gems, and explore the caves on a tour.

Tip: Use hair spray before you go! The humidity in the cave may leave you looking like Monica on Friends.

Next door to Natural Bridge Caverns is Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, where you can hand-feed exotic animals including zebra, buffalo, and giraffes from your car or by safari bus.

Tip: Come early if you’re going on the safari. Once the animals get full thanks to the many cars ahead of you, they won’t be as likely to head over and interact with you.

Spring weather is the perfect time to head to Frederiscksburg and climb Enchanted Rock. This 425-foot pink granite rock offers a challenging hike to the top and views that are worth it once you’ve made the climb.

Tip: Climbing the rock is easy enough for all ages, but appropriate shoes will help. Don’t forget to bring some water and sunscreen. You never know how bright the sun will be on any given day in Texas.

Looking for a fun and unique experience in the Hill Country? The Stars & Stripes Drive In Theatre is family fun in New Braunfels with modern accommodations. All the newest films are playing and tasty snacks are available in the ‘50s café.

Tip: The theater opens every night at 6pm. Get there early to get the best spot and let the kids run around on the playground before the movie starts.

Get in some activity to kick off Spring Break at the Kinderschuhe 5k Run & Walk. It starts at Gruene Hall on Saturday, March 5 and wraps up by 11:30am—the perfect time to head next door to The Gristmill for brunch. This annual 5K run/walk awards winners in several categories and benefits local schools. Find out more here.

Tip: Ask for a table overlooking the river and enjoy your meal with a view.

In between all that fun and activity, save a little time to get some culture in the Hill Country. Spring Break at the LBJ Ranch in Stonewall offers special free programs three times each day from March 5–20. “You can learn about the Secret Service and "Air Force ½", experience the natural side of the ranch, discover Johnson's legacy of social programs, hear behind-the-scenes stories from the curatorial staff, and much more,” they said.

Tip: Programs only last between 15 and 25 minutes, giving you plenty of time to explore the ranch before and after.

Spring Break is also a good time to visit the fastest-growing community in the Hill Country over the past three years and tour land for sale in New Braunfels. Acreage ranges from 1 to 14 acres with resort amenities and an ideal location on the Texas Wine Trail.
