San Antonio, just 35 miles from Vintage Oaks at the Vineyard, is full of fun, family-friendly activities.
One of the biggest tourist attractions in all of Texas, the San Antonio River Walk, is a public park that’s open every single day of the year. Also known as the Paseo Del Rio, the San Antonio River Walk is comprised of a series of pathways around the San Antonio River, near the city’s bustling downtown business district. The variety of vendors, businesses, restaurants, hotels and attractions lining the River Walk virtually guarantee that anyone can find something to enjoy! Visitors can stroll under bridges, explore a variety of shops—even venture all the way to the Alamo! Also located just steps away from the River Walk are local attractions including the Rivercenter Mall, the Arneson River Theatre, HemisFair Park, the Tower Life Building, the San Antonio Museum of Art and Pearl Brewery.
In 2009, the River Walk underwent its latest expansion, known as the Museum Reach. Stretching just over a mile, this new section of River Walk features outdoor art and beautiful scenery.
A variety of festivals take place on the River Walk each year. From the Holiday Boat Parade each winter, to the Fiesta San Antonio’s flower-covered boat parade each spring, festivals are a wonderful time to come and experience all of the cultural wonder the San Antonio River Walk has to offer.
Of course, when you come for a visit, you’ll want a nice place to stay. San Antonio boasts a wide variety of hotels, with several located literally just steps away from the River Walk! The Courtyard by Marriott, the Crowne Plaza Hotel Riverwalk, the Hyatt Regency, the Holiday Inn El Tropicano, the O’Casey Bed & Breakfast and the Hotel Havana are just a few among the many available to choose from.
The San Antonio River Walk is the perfect retreat, and it’s just a short drive from Vintage Oaks. Just under an hour away from the Texas Hill Country, the San Antonio River Walk is a playground our residents can enjoy year ‘round!
