Want to know the best way to get over your Halloween candy hangover?

Lots and lots of sausage. Coincidentally, Wurstfest is New Braunfels' premier annual event, and it starts this Friday, Nov. 1. Billed as “A 10-Day Salute to Sausage” this most unique event calls on the area’s German heritage while creating an atmosphere of fun and interest that attracts tens of thousands of locals and visitors.

Even better? The non-profit Wurstfest helps raise funds for area improvements and community projects that only increase the appeal of New Braunfels, recently named by as the top rebounding city in the nation for real estate values. Proceeds from the festival have been used to improve both Landa Park and the Comal River.

Wurstfest, which has been named among the top attractions in the world for the month of November and in the top 100 events in North America, presents great food, music, dancing, carnival rides and games, beer gardens, "and the finest in Alpine and Bavarian-style entertainment." Wurstfest began in 1961 as a one-day celebration of local foods that grew to the host of ABC’s Good Morning America in 2006. Today, Wurstfest is New Braunfels' premier annual event and also a worldwide spectacle.
