Austin has the No. 1 economy in the nation according to the “On Numbers” report released this week, setting the city up well for next year, said the Austin Business Journal.

“It looks like Austin is heading into 2014 with a full head of steam. In the latest monthly economic rankings of the top metros in the country, Austin is still at the head of the pack in November,” said the Business Journal. Austin sits atop the list of 102 cities, ranking especially high when it comes to jobs.

“Austin leads the country in overall job creation for the past five years, boosting the number of private industry jobs by 11.8 percent since 2008,” said the Business Journal. “No other U.S. city comes close to that percentage growth.”

Austin is home to several large companies who are either headquartered in the Texas capitol or are among the city’s largest employers, including Samsung, Facebook, Apple Inc., National Instruments, 3M Corporation, Dell Inc., and SouthStar Communities, who recently moved its corporate headquarters there.
