If there’s one thing we do right in the Texas Hill Country, it’s wine. If you’re a lover of fine, Texas-made wines and the food that it’s paired with, it’s imperative that you attend the 34th Annual San Antonio Wine Festival. This year, the perennial staple is benefitting KLRN, the public television station for south central Texas.
The Celebration’s Events in the Hill Country
The 2014 festival is kicking off on September 26th with a black-tie event at the St. Anthony Hotel. According to a blog post by My San Antonio, “food and wine will be served from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $200 each or $2,000 for a table of 10.”
The Champagne Brunch, a festival favorite for “admirers of bubbly spirits,” will be held on the morning of September 28th at the historic St. Anthony Hotel. It will feature a multi-course brunch prepared by distinguished Chef Michael Mata, and entertainment by the 7-piece acoustic, traditional jazz ensemble Jim Cullum Jazz Band.
The main event, the “Fine Wine & Cuisine Tasting” will be held at the intimate and elegant venue Pearl Stable on the evening of September 28th. This event will feature wines “from around the world, as well as cuisine from local restaurants like Boiler House, Tuk Tuk Taproom, Cured, Los Barrios Family Restaurant, and more.
Texas Hill Country Wineries
To truly experience Texas Hill Country wines, we invite you to visit local wineries in addition to attending the San Antonio Wine Festival. The local Dry Comal Creek Vineyard, for example, is known as “pioneers” in Texas of Black Spanish wine.
Nestled in a Texas Hill Country valley, Dry Comal Creek offers many engaging opportunities to experience their unique brand of wine, including tours, tastings, wine by the glass, bottles to take home and a distinct selection of wine gifts.
