Golfing is a favorite activity in the Hill Country, and numerous courses offer ample Hill Country land on which to play for fun or get competitive while enjoying beautiful scenery.

1. The Club at ConCan is a par-72, 18-hole, championship course the Hill Country’s Frio River region. Expect great course conditions and panoramic views from every fairway.

2. Delaware Springs Golf Course is a municipal course in Burnet with a combination of sand traps and water hazards to challenge golfers, plus a spring-fed creek that meanders through the course.

3. For challenging play with a side of Hill Country luxury, the choice is often the Hill Country Golf Club on the grounds of the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa. The championship course offers 27 holes with dramatic topography and views, and was named a “Top 10 Course You Can Play” by Golf Magazine, one of the “Best Places to Play” by Golf Digest, and a “Texas Leading Golf Resort by World Travel awards.

4. La Cantera Golf Club is another renowned course, having been named one of the “Best Courses You Can Play” by Golfweek and the #2 Best Course in Texas by Golf Advisors. With 36 holes of championship golf spread over two courses—the Resort Course, designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf and the home of the PGA’s Texas Open, and the Palmer Course, built in 2001, designed by Arnold Palmer—and breathtaking Hill Country views, it’s a favorite spot to stay and play.

5. Lady Bird Johnson Golf Course in Fredericksburg was renovated in 2012 and is considered one of the best municipal courses in Texas; The Par 71 course has been named a “Top-5 play” course by Golf Advisor raters.

6. The Summit Rock Golf Course at Horseshoe Bay Resort in Horseshoe Bay, southwest of Llano, is an exclusive, members-only course that was named the Best New Golf Course in the United States by Golf Digest. It features The Nicklaus Signature course, a Par-72 layout known for its scenic views with dramatic elevation changes.

7. The Landa Park Golf Course at Comal Springs is a beautiful and challenging 18-hole public golf course in New Braunfels. Offering a choice of 9 or 18 holes, the course is USGA-rated.

8. The Bandit Golf Club, in New Braunfels off of Lake McQueeney and offers a combination of challenging fairways on the 18-hole, Par-71 course and scenic surroundings. The Bandit was named a Top 10 Public Course in Texas by Golfweek magazine.

9. Located in Schertz, Northcliffe Golf & Country Club is a semi-private, 18-hole course that is considered both a great value and a challenge for beginners and more experienced players.

10. The semi-private Quail Creek Golf Course in San Marcos is 18 holes of well-planned fairways and serene Hill Country scenery.
