Health and fitness go hand in hand, and the Vintage Oaks Fitness Club has committed itself to being a comprehensive resource for both. The Club is bustling with more than 100 classes now being offered per month, and, by popular demand, it’s about to hold the first of its special health-and fitness-related events. Residents in the community are invited to “See Nutrition in Plain Sight” on Wednesday, Sept. 11 from 5:45–6:45pm at the Club. You can RSVP by emailing Dottie@vintageoakstexas.com.

Hosted by Jessica Walker, Certified Health Coach, Sears Institute and Certified Sports and Exercise Coach, Pn1, this workshop for Vintage Oaks residents is “one of the many types of extras our members said they would like to see offered,” said Dottie LeBlanc, the Fitness Club’s Ambassador and one of its four on-site Certified Personal Trainers.

Trainers and staff sought to dive into the nutrition aspect of healthy living after being repeatedly asked by Club members for tips on eating to complement their fitness plan and accomplish their overall health goals. Walker’s focus for the workshop will be on macronutrients, or macros, which include carbs, fats and protein—“the three basic components of every diet,” said Healthline. Macros are the main focus of many health and nutrition experts today. Instead of depriving the body of an essential food group, the goal of eating according to macronutrients or macros is to get the balance right.

“Jessica is coming in to educate everyone on macronutrients—how much of each the body can digest in a given time period, portion control, etc. We’ll be plating food to see if we’re at the right macro count and learn how to classify food items between carbs, protein, and fat,” said Dottie. “For instance, a lot of people think of milk as a protein, but it’s really a carb. It will be a hands-on learning experience, and she’ll also talk about eating for your DNA.”

The 7,800-square-foot Fitness Club opened earlier this year and features classes ranging from yoga to HIIT, as well as cardio and weight equipment, an outdoor fitness area, personal training areas, an age-restricted pool, saunas, and an outdoor spa.

Vintage Oaks offers a wide array of land options within its 3,900 acres, in addition to new and existing homes for sale. Lots range from 1–14 acres with prices starting from the $80s and homes from the low $400s. Vintage Oaks also offers an abundance of amenities in addition to the Fitness Club, with multiple pools, five miles of trails, a lazy river, numerous parks, sport courts and ball fields, and the Tuscan Clubhouse, home to many of the community-sponsored events as well as the spot where clubs, groups, and activities organized by owners are held.
