Mission del Lago puts the focus on family and recreation with amenities that offer great opportunities for time spent together in nature.

Alamo City Golf Trail’s Mission del Lago Golf Course

Alamo City Golf Trail’s Mission del Lago Golf Course is the centerpiece of the Mission del Lago community, with 18 holes of challenging play for all levels of golfers. This favorite SouthSide recreational amenity meanders through the center of the Mission del Lago community, offering a public, British-style links course with flatter yet rolling land plus tree-lined fairways, scenic water hazards, and numerous bunkers.

The course was designed by Denis Griffiths, the only American golf architect to design a course in St. Andrews, Scotland. This full-service golf facility also offers a large practice green, a chipping course, a driving range, a pro shop, and a restaurant, as well as beautiful views of adjacent Mitchell Lake.

Community Parks

Kids laugh, run, and enjoy being active at two Mission del Lago parks and playgrounds within the SouthSide community, Jim Mattox Park and Julian C Gallardo Elementary School. The 2,500-square-foot playground at Jim Mattox Park is located just behind the Mission del Lago Golf Course’s Clubhouse, and includes a tennis court, picnic tables, and grills. Julian C Gallardo Elementary School Park and Playground is located at the front of the Mission del Lago community and provides a shaded playground for climbing and playing, and grassy fields for running and enjoying family picnics.

Mitchell Lake Audubon Center

Mission de Lago is located right next to the 1200-acre Mitchell Lake Audubon Center, giving homeowners a unique natural amenity within footsteps of home. The Audubon Center includes the 600-acre Mitchell Lake, 215 acres of wetlands and ponds, and 385 acres of upland habitat, and is a world-class bird sanctuary.

More than 300 different species of birds, including pelicans, egrets, roseate spoonbills, wild ducks, and hawks, have been spotted in this unique natural amenity, making the Audubon Center one of the most-visited bird sanctuaries. The Audubon Center holds special events and activities throughout the year, including opportunities to study the migratory birds, as well as fun and educational kids’ camps in the summertime and during school breaks.
