September in New Braunfels is a time to celebrate the start of cooler weather heading into fall, kids’ return to learning now that they’re a couple weeks into the school year, and a number of great family events (and a few that are more geared for adults only) taking place throughout the city. Patriot Day Golf TournamentFriday, Sept. 4, 1pm
Landa Park Golf Course
This 18-hole scramble foursome tournament has $125 entry fee per person (includes lunch, entry gift, tournament with cart, and prizes), with proceeds benefiting the Folds of Honor Foundation, providing scholarships to the spouses and children of deceased and disabled soldiers.

Fischer Park Amphitheater
The new Fischer Park will hold a free movie series on the first Friday of each month at the Fischer Park Amphitheater. Tonight is the “nature inspired, educational film,” Disney Nature: Wings of Life. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, snacks and drinks.

Gruene Historic District
This run/walk through the scenic Texas Hill Country provides medals for each age group with food, drinks, and tunes at the famed Gruene Hall post race. Sponsored by the New Braunfels Running Club with a $25 entry fee.
Doggie Dip DaySunday, Sept. 13, noon to 4pm
Landa Park Aquatic Complex
Head to Landa Park with your pooch and let him go for a swim in the Springfed Pool. Collars mandatory and proof of current Rabies vaccine necessary for entry. $5 per dog/owner and $1 each additional person.
NFL Punt, Pass and KickSunday, Sept. 13, 5–7pm
H-E-B Soccer Complex
Let the kids show off their punting, passing, and placekicking, with scores calculated according to distance and accuracy during this free event. They might even advance to competitions held at NFL games!
S’more Campfire StoriesFriday Sept. 18, 7pm
Landa Park Dance Slab
On the third Friday of every month, Landa Park is the place to be for free stories and s’mores around the campfire. Bring your own camp chair or stool!

The monthly gathering of talented artisans and eager visitors takes place this weekend. Pick up a unique item from one of the 100+ vendors and spend some time exploring the Gruene Historic District.
