Think Halloween is all about the kids? When you live in the Hill Country, you get a great mix of fun family events and activities, and also a few that are strictly adults-only. Favorite Hill Country event Wurstfest kicks off November 3

Wurstfest has been called “the best 10 days in sausage history” and also the best thing to do in Texas by Expedia, and the thousands of people who are about to visit New Braunfels for this year’s festival will surely see why. This is one of the most highly anticipated Hill Country events of the year, and it kicks off with the ceremonial “biting of the sausage” on Friday, Nov. 3 at 4pm, with festivities going on through Sunday, Nov. 12.

Gruene Music & Wine Festival brings one of the favorite Hill Country events this week

One of the favorite Hill Country events is back this week, with four days of music and wine, plus great food and other activities. The 31st annual Gruene Music & Wine Festival starts on Thursday, Oct. 5 and continues through the weekend. Tickets are now on sale for all four days. The schedule includes:

The Comal County Fair is a favorite New Braunfels family friendly event

The Comal County Fair is just days away, and that means it’s almost time to gear up for a whole world of Hill Country entertainment and activities during one of the favorite New Braunfels family fun events. The 124th annual fair looks to be the best yet, with “five full days of bull riding, chili cooking, carnival rides, exhibits, competitions, kids’ activities and more,” said the City of New Braunfels. The 2017 fair takes place from September 26 to October 1 at the Comal County Fairgrounds.

Hike the Hills event celebrates new trail, raises money for charity

The words, “Take a hike,” were never as enjoyable as on Saturday, June 3, when those who live at Vintage Oaks and friends joined together to hike the newly refurbished Vintage Oaks Trail, from the trailhead by the main entrance of the community to the trailhead across from the Tuscan Clubhouse, and raise money for the American Heart Association. The first annual Hike in the Hills event at Vintage Oaks brought together neighbors who were excited to discover the newly improved trail and raise funds for this worthy charity. 

Survey among those living in New Braunfels finds strong satisfaction


Anyone who’s already living in New Braunfels is well aware of what’s so great about the city and all it has to offer. Those who are considering a move to New Braunfels may be interested in hearing what residents have to say. The new New Braunfels National Citizen Survey™ (The NCS) measured the “livability” of New Braunfels, capturing opinions “within the three pillars of a community (Community Characteristics, Governance and Participation) across eight central facets of community (Safety, Mobility, Natural Environment, Built Environment, Economy, Recreation and Wellness, Education and Enrichment and Community Engagement),” they said.
