You know it’s the holiday season when Christmas lights start going up. And perhaps nowhere are they more beautiful or more in abundance than in the Texas Hill Country. Almost every city along the I35 Corridor between Austin and San Antonio showcases its own unique holiday flair, bringing even more beauty to an area that's already flooded with it. With so many Christmas light displays in the Hill Country, Hill Country real estate buyers and residents want to carve out time to see them all while enjoying this beautiful and festive Texas holiday tradition. 

New Braunfels

A favorite New Braunfels event and one of the most popular holiday lights displays in the state, Santa’s Ranch is a drive-thru with more than a million lights and 100 Christmas displays and animations.


Festive displays, a Santa’s Village, holiday treats, and visits with Santa highlight Christmas Light Fest at Don Strange Ranch.  


The Christmas Trail of Lights goes from Wallace Riddell Park through the city’s Historic Square and includes the historic Burnet County Courthouse. The 18-foot multicolor Christmas tree is a great spot for family photos.

Johnson City

Hill Country residents enjoy Christmas light in Johnson City every year with the Pedernales Electrical Co-Op Headquarters, which features one million lights, and the Blanco County Courthouse decked out with more than 100,000 lights. The tall oaks wrapped in stunning blue or white lights is a favorite sight. 


More than 140,000 Christmas lights, the Hill Country's tallest Christmas Tree, and dazzling light displays throughout the historic downtown and in Peterson Plaza and City Hall make Kerrville a can’t miss for Hill Country holiday lights.


Stroll through the “Pathway of Arches” at Llano River Park and view the lights reflecting beautifully off the Llano River.

Marble Falls

The banks of Lake Marble Falls light up with more than a million lights for the holidays. Do a self-guided tour through the Christmas Walkway of Light in Lakeside Park and view the light sculptures and light tunnel decked out with more than 12,000 clear lights. 


If you’re going to be in Austin, you’ll see why the Austin Trail of Lights draws Hill Country residents and revelers from all over the world to Zilker Park every December.

Round Rock

The Rock‘N Lights Holiday Light Tour features two million lights sparkling for a mile and a half, with a Christmas Towne at the end.


The Harlien Family Christmas is a Hill Country Christmas lights display at private home with 70,000 synchronized lights, animations, and other festive displays, plus cookies & cocoa with Santa on weekends. Donations are accepted for the Make a Wish Foundation. If you’re in Georgetown, swing by The Spindler Family home to see their choreographed light show as well. 

San Antonio

Heading to San Antonio? Check out the Light Show at San Fernando Cathedral, with a 24-minute video art show displayed on the outside of the Cathedral. And don’t miss a trip to the Riverwalk between now and December 20 for Ford Fiesta de las Luminarias, a century-old tradition showcasing 6,000+ luminarias glowing along the banks of the river.
